We had a small get-together at the house tonight. Some of Lily’s students are moving on to bigger and hopefully better things, so we treated them to a western meal and some live music. A Quan, Charlie Harper and I brought out our guitars and over the course of the evening we banged out a few tunes and then introduced the kids to meatloaf, mashed potatoes and chicken fajitas. I vaguely remember some ice cold beer being in the mix. Oh, and Elvis was there…
It was fun. Good people, good food, almost normal really. I’m making a valiant effort to stay up and watch the Women’s World Cup final. 35 minutes before game time and I am fading fast. Go USA and all that. I mean it IS still soccer over there, yeah?
Peace.
UPDATE: I made it to the end of the soccer game (5:20 AM). Almost wish I’d gone to bed now but man what a game.

She had developed a string of health problems in recent months and died this past weekend. Her grandson was quoted this week as saying Ms. Luo was kind [...]

It really was a great time. Good food, good company, and seeing that guy from the television who drinks himself stupid was fun. Great photos!
